What Is Avantis?

Avantis is the largest RWA perps DEX in DeFi, built on and backed by Base. Avantis allows users to trade crypto and real-world assets (RWAs), including FX, commodities, indices, and equities. Backed by Pantera and Coinbase, Avantis is the largest DEX on Base by volumes, and brings institutional-grade products to DeFi, letting users trade with up to 500x leverage in a transparent, permissionless environment.

Avantis is best known for launching zero-fee perpetuals (ZFP) — a first-of-its-kind primitive where traders only pay fees if they profit. They've also brought leveraged RWAs onchain. This has driven explosive growth: over $20B+ in cumulative volume and 15M+ run-rate revenues since Febrruary 2024.

AVNT is Avantis' native utility token, and it powers:

• Governance: Vote on protocol upgrades, fee changes, and product expansion.
• Staking & Security: AVNT holders can stake tokens to backstop vault losses and earn protocol rewards, akin to L1 staking models.
• Incentives: Traders, LPs, and referrers earn AVNT rewards based on usage and participation.
• Trading Fee Discounts: Traders can get discounts based on stake duration / amount
• XP boosts: Stakers can earn XP boosts based on stake duration / amount

With support from major backers like Pantera Capital, Founders Fund, Galaxy Digital, and Base Ecosystem Fund, Avantis is building out a multi-product suite with ambitious milestones: on-chain equities, a native L2 (Avantis v2), composable yield vaults, and even on-chain prediction markets.

Who Are the Founders of Avantis?

Avantis was founded by Harsehaj Singh and Raymond Dong, veterans of Pantera Capital, Lazard, McKinsey, and Bow Capital. The team brings together deep experience in DeFi, quant finance, and macro trading. Harsehaj, Avantis' CEO, previously led investments at Pantera. Raymond, the COO, combines hedge fund and consulting experience with crypto-native product leadership.

The broader team includes engineers and designers across India, the U.S., and Europe, many of whom have previously built at Binance, Quantopian, and large fintech firms. The protocol is governed by the Avantis Foundation (Cayman).
