About Datachain Foundation (DC FAT)
What Is Datachain Rope (FAT)? Launched on 25/03/2026, Datachain Rope is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 distributed ledger network developed by Datachain Foundation SAS, a company based in Paris, France. It is designed to support digital identities, smart contracts and tokenized assets while giving individual entities their own records of activity. FAT is the network's native coin (chain ID 271828). It is used to pay transaction fees, support network operations through staking and participate in governance. FAT succeeds the legacy DC token issued on Ethereum and XDC Network. A one-way migration process allows holders to convert eligible legacy DC tokens to native FAT at a 1:1 ratio through a burn-and-mint mechanism. The network is accessible through EVM-compatible tools and RPC interfaces, including MetaMask and common Ethereum development frameworks.
Who Founded Datachain? Datachain Rope is developed by Datachain Foundation SAS, a French company founded in 2022 by Kazé A. Onguéné, who serves as its Chief Executive Officer. The foundation develops the protocol and related applications for digital identity, asset management and tokenization.
What Makes Datachain Rope Different? Datachain Rope uses an entity-based ledger model described in its Quipu Primitive Canon. Instead of recording every event solely within one shared chain of blocks, it organizes records into individual histories called strings. An event added to a string is called a knot. These records are connected to a shared network history called the federation cord.
This structure is intended to make individual records addressable and to support selective deletion of encrypted personal-data payloads. Its rope_untieKnot operation is designed to remove an eligible payload while retaining a verifiable record that the event existed. The approach addresses use cases associated with data-erasure requests, including those under Article 17 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); whether a particular implementation meets legal requirements depends on the data and circumstances involved. Erasing personal-data payloads does not undo financial transactions.
The protocol specifies hybrid cryptographic mechanisms combining conventional algorithms with post-quantum standards, including Ed25519 and ML-DSA-65 for signatures, and X25519 and ML-KEM-768 for key exchange.
Datachain Rope supports applications such as Datawallet+ for wallets and digital identity, Tanastok for tokenized real-world assets, DCSwap for token exchange, NaturaProof for biodiversity-related records and Careaway for health-related services. Network activity can be viewed through DCScan.
How Is the Datachain Rope Network Secured? Datachain Rope uses a mechanism called Testimony Consensus. Network participants known as knot witnesses attest to events that are periodically anchored to the federation cord, with a target interval of approximately 4.2 seconds. The protocol does not rely on proof-of-work mining. Its design includes authenticated node identities and signed requests for operations that modify ledger records.
How Many FAT Coins Are There? Datachain Rope began with a genesis supply of 10 billion FAT on 25/03/2026. The protocol specifies additional issuance through network rewards, initially at a rate of 500 million FAT per year, with the annual rate halving every four years until it reaches a minimum of 1 million FAT per year. Under this schedule, total supply approaches approximately 18 billion FAT over time; this is an asymptotic supply limit rather than a fixed amount minted at launch.
Rewards are allocated among knot proposers (30%), the testimony validator pool (45%), node operators (20%), and a federation and community allocation (5%). Circulating supply differs from total supply because certain treasury, migration and other non-circulating holdings are excluded. Updated figures and the reconciliation methodology are available at DCScan Supply.
What Is FAT Used For? FAT is used for network transaction fees, staking-related network participation and governance voting. Applications within the ecosystem can also use FAT as a settlement or utility asset. On DCSwap, native FAT can be represented as WFAT, its 1:1 wrapped form, for use in token liquidity pools.
FAT on Datachain Rope should be distinguished from unrelated tokens with similar names or tickers on other networks. Network information, contract references and migration resources are provided through the Datachain Rope documentation and DCScan.
